We live in a world filled with many wonderful local independent businesses, but getting found when you’re small is tricky. We found our passion talking on social media about all the great things happening locally and telling small business stories, so decided to combine our popular small business and events blog with a directory to bring the businesses and followers together. Supporting local keeps the heart of communities beating, gives colour to our high streets and highlights individuals over brands. Now you can find local, shop local and support local from the comfort of your sofa, just by searching our site.

From cafes, Therapists to Artists and marketing support - it’s all here in one searchable place on the Directory. If you love events or are searching for latest on great places to eat and drink you are also in the right place. Take a look at our events listings and blog reviews to find the Buzz that’s happening close to where you are. We are passionate about discovering interesting, individual and outstanding events and venues from the Three Counties of Herts Beds & Bucks, so keep following our social media and searching the site to find all that the best of what’s new and exciting.

Businesses we are here for you too. You are the lifeblood of our community and we have created the perfect space for you to meet, connect and upskill. Head over to our Business Community page to find out how we can help. We can’t wait to meet you! I hope you enjoy the site and don’t forget this is a collaborative space – if you know of somewhere you think we should go or a business that goes above and beyond to offer incredible service, why not tell us about them, we’d love to tell their story. Enjoy the Buzz!

Hi I’m Katy and I’m a busy Mum of two gorgeous scamps, who like a lot of us out there, juggles, the juggles to make life, business and employment work. My story is not unlike many others, but I've been lucky to find is that my greatest passion (and Matt would say my talent) is for telling other people’s stories.

In 2016 whilst training in Social Media Management in attempt to break away from the day job and start something of my own I began a grass roots campaign with a focus on creating community for small businesses. I love the colour and life that comes with the array of independent businesses bring to the community and was inspired by making a forum to highlight them and make it easier for people to find them. Focusing on interviewing local business people, I was amazed at how quickly the campaign took off - striking a chord with the public for its positivity and enthusiasm for local independents and the warmth in their stories.

A few months in I realised the potential of what I’d created and how much it could make a difference to independent business. With the idea of turning it into a business - I met local photographer, Matt on a photoshoot. Matt, it turned out, could not only take a good picture, but had the skills to design and build a website, and a work ethic and passion for independent businesses that matched my own. And so, in March 2017, we combined our skills and the Buzz took its’ first steps to becoming a business.

Building a new platform and asking people to find businesses in a different way, was never going to be easy but we are proud that we have achieved significant monthly web traffic and have developed a hub of unique, talented and hardworking businesses.

Thank you for joining us on this journey, I hope you like what you find here... and I know you’re going to love supporting local just as much as we do!

THE TEAM

Hi, I'm Matt! I moved here a little over 7 years ago, after almost a decade living and working in London in a job I didn't enjoy and dreaming of becoming a full-time photographer. After building up a photography business in my free time over several years, and wanting to have more space to start a family, we made a decision to move out of London and for me to take the big step into becoming a full-time freelancer.

The supportive community is one of the many things I love about Tring, and over the past few years this little town in the Chilterns has only gotten better and better and the variety of incredible businesses out there is truly inspiring.

Although I have been running a freelance photography business for 8 years, web design had been something I was doing 'on the side' for almost a decade. After meeting Katy I found someone who inspired me to pull my creative skills together and to tackle a collaborative project that would build on Katy's popular social campaign and create a unique online space for the local business community. The result, Tring Buzz, has since become a vital connection for local businesses and a trusted voice in the area. In 2018 we were awarded Website of the Year at the SME Hertfordshire Business awards, Katy was a finalist for Business Woman of the Year, and we were finalists at the National Business Awards at Wembley Stadium. Not bad for our first year.
